HOPE Collaborative is excited to announce the Healthy Corner Store Chef Challenge!
We are calling on all professional and community chefs to contribute to innovative food access work in Oakland by creating recipes for dishes that can be served at corner store delis in East and West Oakland at a <$5 price point.
There are many talented chefs in the Bay Area, and this contest is an amazing opportunity for more Oakland residents to have access to delicious, freshly prepared food, right in their neighborhoods. Chefs can feel good about giving back to the community and more people can eat and enjoy good food.
Select entries will be showcased at our Chef Challenge Event on Monday, October 5th, 5-8pm at the Humanist Hall (390 27th Street, Oakland) – come through and enjoy food, drinks, and music with awesome chefs from around the Bay! Vote for your favorites at the event, and dishes will be selected to appear in partnering corner stores. All entries may be featured in a HOPE Collaborative Healthy Corner Store Cookbook. Buy you tickets at Brown Paper Tickets!
If you or a chef you know would like to enter HOPE’s Chef Challenge, please contact Lauren at firstname.lastname@example.org or (847) 606-0744.
For regular event updates, join our Facebook Chef Challenge Event Page.
***Due to the high volume of submissions and limited space capacity at the event venue, we will be selecting a maximum number of entrants to appear at the Chef Challenge event. The $50 stipend (which can be waived as a HOPE Collaborative donation) will only be available to those who are selected to participate at the Challenge event and is intended to cover ingredients and materials expenses to provide tastings at the event.***
