Our mission

Our mission is to advance racial, economic, and health equity in Oakland through community-driven food and neighborhood initiatives. We envision a vibrant Oakland where historically marginalized communities shape their neighborhoods’ future, have equitable opportunities for healthy food and safe community spaces, and build community wealth.

Our Work

Through the combined efforts of our program areas, HOPE works to advance racial, economic, and health equity in Oakland’s food system and built environment through policy change, planning, and programs that increase residents’ access to healthy food and spaces. Air Quality Community Meeting: Community Air Plan Presentation
Wednesday, April 30th at 6:30pm, OakStop California Ballroom
This meeting is to discuss the Statewide Mobile Monitoring Initiative from the California Air Resources Board and Aclima. In our previous meeting, community members discussed potential areas for air quality monitoring in Central Oakland and named different emissions sources that impact local air quality. In this meeting, we will present the draft Community Air Monitoring Plan (CAMP) and solicit feedback on the draft plan.
Community members who are able to attend and participate will receive a stipend of $50 for their time. Refreshments and dinner will be provided.
RSVP Here.

CalFresh Survey
  • HOPE is working with Alameda County Nutrition Services to help increase CalFresh user's access to Oakland farmers' markets. The responses from this survey will help us develop and expand community-focused programs and projects to ensure that all Oakland residents have access to fresh, nutritious, and culturally appropriate food.
