Food and Water Distribution

Current Distribution Locations:

LEFT is HOPE Collaborative's food recovery and redistribution program. We work with resident leaders to recover and extend the shelf life of food that would otherwise go to waste from farmers’ markets, grocery stores, and other food services, and transform that food into healthy meals and value added products for low-income residents in East and West Oakland. The LEFT project has been an ongoing community-led project supported by HOPE since 2020, and we have partnered with local chefs, business owners, and resident leaders to recover, prepare, and distribute food at 2-3 different sites, as well as community fridges.

Chef Empress Xia Nei focuses on reconnecting our community to the power of fungi medicine, an ancestral way of eating, and creating a space for us to be well. Through our café and event space, we connect people to our local farmers through educational markets that provide seasonal fresh fruits and vegetables.
